Brighton Festival – May 2011

Brighton Festival – May 2011 Wow! So many talented writers and performers, attended several events I would not have thought of attending, due to the enthusiasm of the talented reviewer Catherine Meek.

Boot Camp for Adults This is part of the 26 letters programme. I saw more of it last year but this year the Boot Camp certainly appealed. Julia Churchill (Greenhouse Literary Agency) and Leah Thaxton (Senior Publisher at Egmont, one of theUK’s leading children’s book publishers) offered loads of practical advice including how to get an agent etc. Both speakers were highly professional obviously and must have heard all our queries before. Despite this they were both warm and friendly making many of us feel it might just be possible to get something published, despite the dreadful cutbacks within the industry and closure of bookshops.
