Wassailing and Morris Men

We went to Middle Farm Countryside Centre last night for wassailing, with Paul and Caroline, we had never been to such an event.  It was all  very dramatic,  a pagan festival usually held on Twelfth Night, with drumming, lots of Morris Dancers, a torch light procession through the meadows to ensure a fruitful harvest, a wassailing song,  a huge bonfire then dancing in the barn a mummers play, cider and a Hog Roast.  It all felt very ‘Sussex’ and great fun! A free event too, all hosted by Hunter’s Moon Morris and Middle Farm. Well done!

The wassail at Middle Farm is always a fab event, one of our favourite dance outs of the year!
