April alphabet challenge B – Bees

A Valiant Brood

snow and ice - not from exhibition

 

 

 

Despite honey stocks and bee fondant
wind rain and snow penetrated
their sturdy wooden hive.
Now they lie in tiny ice cocoons
clustered around their queen
a valiant brood
that did all it could
to stay alive
