Bickerstaff by the harbour – for a fishy feast!

We love Bickerstaff next to  Screwfix in Newhaven, but this one near the harbour is Kerry Bickerstaff’s domain and equally enticing. There is also a nice view of the fishing boats and  a family friendly pub nearby called The Ark.

I often ask a fellow shopper how she cooks what she is buying, so now I’ll try huss shaken in a plastic bag of flour, salt and pepper and pan fried. I might try another customer’s salsa dressing with tomato and anchovy to go on the tiny local plaice fillets Bickerstaff’s sell.  This week they had whelks cooked on the premises (‘bulots’ in France and served with mayonnaise.) We eat far less meat these days and with such a choice of fresh goodies who can go wrong? DSC04132 More on these amazing fish shops and a recipe:
