World Naked Bike Ride, the Brighton event celebrates bikes and bodies, protests against car culture and demonstrates cyclists’ power and vulnerability. It’s also great fun! Rides have taken place every June since 2006.
The dress code for the bike ride is “As bare as you dare!” Ever since 2007, full nudity has been permitted – with the agreement of Sussex police.
All this came whizzing by when learning about my new SLR camera at Evolution on one of there ‘Tea, cake and a workshop’ sessions. Hadn’t had time to get to grips with it when the bikes came by, so pics on my handy bridge camera through the window. But now, thanks to Eva Kalpadaki I know about ISO, apertures and shutter speeds!
Eva (above) is Greek and came to the UK to complete a PhD in Arts and Communication at UCA. With her own photography she plays with representation and abstraction and has had many exhibitions. A longer course starts in the autumn.
