These angels on their mobiles must be in the fallen angel category!

Selfridges the department story in Regent Street, used to be the place to see Santa in the late 50s.   A magical wonderland to walk through before seeing Santa and a Mr Holly just like this one. But I don’t remember any presents!

DSC05956The dried fruit and cinnamon looked good.  I remember sticking cloves into oranges and putting them in a warm place to dry for weeks.  I think grandmothers were destined to be blessed with such a gift.

Homemade sweets were also a luxury, rationing did not stop till the mid 50s. Luckily we did not take sugar in tea so my mother saved it up to make christmas goodies. Later however homemade truffles were a favourite and honeycomb in crunchy chunks.
