On Sunday fifty or more people who have never met before gather at the De La Warr Pavilion to form a scratch choir. By 3.30pm, with Lorraine’s skills and enthusiasm, we have practiced warm ups, tried some harmonies and learned the words to the songs. By 4pm we are singing the best of Bacharach on the Bandstand to an invited audience and some enthusiastic passers by!
How does she do it? With expertise and enthusiasm I guess.
Some of the songs we sang – ‘All kinds of people’ to ‘I say a little prayer’ ‘ Do you know the way to San Jose’ ‘Walk on by’ ‘Raindrops are falling on my head’ etc.
Lorraine does this kind of thing two or three times a year in Bexhill and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.
She used to teach in Brighton when I first moved down here. She had a lovely lunch time pop in until they cut the funding!
