Seasonal Affective Disorder

at the bottom of the garden the battered greenhouse
shattered panes spiders webs
compost bags peat pots
optimistic winter veg
sun detours through the blackberry bush
too near the roof
limiting light
and warmth
green tomatoes
layers of bark smother intrusive weeds
wild strawberries
chives strive to survive
paving stones pathways
dark leaves on the cooking cherry
sour fruits
forgiven in spring
when pink blossom dresses slender branches

this is an experimental poem in content and form comments welcomed

Lovely poem Ann; it added more cheer to a sunny, misty October morning.
