Cafe Poets – poetry workshops – I sit in the Open Arts cafe in Rottingdean, on the first Wednesday in the month 10.30 to 12.30 writing poetry, well sometimes verse. I bring with me new inspiration and ideas. It is for aspiring poets and today three came along, once seven turned up and one had been published.
Today the warm up was about colours, we all chose one and brainstormed everything we could think of associated with it, mentioning the colour in each line. We moved on to words and their associations.
Poems emerged, one about living in France, another featuring ‘lime green’ a third the contents of a handbag. Our latest poetic efforts are always on display in the smallest room in the house – The posh poetic loo at the Cafe…so why not rush along and see them and may be join us next time. The workshop is fun but also structured and time is given to share, although this is not essential.
